Hi everyone. Welcome to my website. My name is David Ross, and I'll be your tour guide today.................... just kidding.
You probably came here today through one of three ways: web search, referral from someone you know, or you spoke with me, whichever way thanks for coming. As you may know (or not) I love to photograph, not just people but everything, and after lots of soul searching, I have decided to make living from it. Let me give you a brief description of who I am and where I came from.
I was born in Liverpool in the UK, and I am the youngest of seven kids (my poor mum). Unlike a lot of kids, I liked school, as I love to learn new things and found I had an aptitude for being creative. My first exposure (do you like the pun) was music. My friend had a drum kit and I used to go over to his house all the time to play. After getting bitten by the music bug, I practiced and practiced until I was good enough to join a band and played quite a few gigs. In high school, I loved art, pottery, drawing, cooking (yeah...thats art), and photography.
I was taught how to compose and print my own photos in the school lab. After leaving school, I went into the regular work force and put all the artistic stuff behind me (except the music, where I played gigs for many years as an extra income). I came to the U.S.A. in 1996 and settled in North Carolina, where I again fell into the regular workflow of management jobs in industry and retail. In all that time, I still photographed for my own pleasure, with some people and lots of landscapes. I briefly worked for Olan Mills and became a trainer, which is where I found my mojo for doing portraits and bridals. So, lets fast forward to now......
The pursuit of capturing a precious moment has been a lifelong ambition of mine. I feel there is nothing more enjoyable than flipping through images of children, weddings, family members, or just friends, and smiling during that moment of capture. My goal as a photographer is to provide you with those very moments.
I know we will share the same vision in capturing that special moment, and I will do my best to deliver them to you.
